Sidewood

Sidewood Cellar Door + Restaurant

Hospitality – New Build

“Fresh, sophisticated and authentic” was the design direction for Sidewood’s new cellar door + restaurant. It was important for the design to reflect the client’s style and characteristics – making it a more comprehensive result for the Sidewood label.

As a completely new build, ASD fully designed every aspect from the building design right through to the bespoke daybeds and outdoor entertainment area.

Local materials were used wherever possible – from hand selected stone for the tasting bar floor to the milled timber created from the Stringy Barks cleared from site and used on the restaurant bar ceiling. These warm, natural elements of stone and wood are accented with bold black cladding and abundantly generous banquettes wrapped in burnt caramel Australian leather.

The design also features huge gallery style walls to display the client’s eclectic art collection, including works by Olsen, Blackman, Boissevain and Grey-Smith. The epic timber benchtops throughout are handmade using solid, recycled oregon from the old shipping sheds in Port Adelaide. Additionally, the wall cladding in the vestibule was created using lovingly restored floorboards from the old basketball court at Prince Alfred College.
